The short version
- Procore bought DroneDeploy for $845 million in cash. The deal closed September 9, 2026.
- The goal is to feed site imagery into Procore’s AI agents so they can see what’s happening on the job.
- The photos and scans you capture today become the data AI works from tomorrow. Capture them consistently.
Procore announced the deal on July 29 and closed it on September 9, paying $845 million in cash. DroneDeploy is used in more than 180 countries and keeps a visual record of construction projects, from drone flights to ground capture.
Why a drone company
AI agents can read documents, but most of what happens on a job isn’t in a document. Procore’s CEO Ajei Gopal said the goal is “digital coworkers” that monitor projects, interpret what’s happening and act to change outcomes. To do that, the agents need to see the site.
DroneDeploy brings a huge visual record: about 20 trillion square feet of imagery, tens of millions of annotations and more than 100,000 labeled safety issues. Combined with the nearly 400 million photos and 126 million drawings Procore says moved through its platform last year, that’s a lot of training material for agents that compare plans to reality.
What it means for builders
You don’t need a drone program to take the lesson. AI that checks progress against the schedule, spots safety issues or verifies quantities depends on regular, organized site imagery.
- Capture site photos on a schedule, not just when something goes wrong.
- Shoot the same angles each time so changes are easy to compare.
- Tag photos to the project and location when you upload them.
- If you fly drones, keep flight paths consistent from visit to visit.

Questions
Do I need DroneDeploy to use Procore’s AI?
No. Procore’s agents work on your Procore documents today. The DroneDeploy data is about what comes next: agents that can see the site.
Will DroneDeploy keep working with other software?
Procore said the two companies will sell each other’s products. Check with DroneDeploy on any integration you depend on.
