The short version
- Autodesk previewed a next-generation AI Assistant with shared workspaces and the ability to connect your own agents.
- The current Autodesk Assistant is available today in Forma, Fusion and Flow. The next-generation version is a preview.
- Autodesk says rollout timing and pricing will be announced in 2027. Plan for it, but don’t wait on it.
At Autodesk University in Las Vegas on September 15, Autodesk announced agentic AI across its three industry clouds, including Forma, its cloud for architecture, engineering and construction.
What Autodesk showed
The headline example was a structural change to a building. The next-generation Assistant would trace its effect on fabrication, schedule, cost, sequencing and operations, then bring up the right tools. Around it:
- Personal Pulse: surfaces your highest-priority issues across projects.
- Assistant Spaces: shared workspaces where teams and their agents work a problem together.
- AI Orchestrator: picks which AI model to use based on accuracy, speed, security and cost.
- Assistant Builder: connects your own agents, tools and partner services to Autodesk project data.

What you can use today
The current Autodesk Assistant is generally available in many Autodesk products, including Forma, Fusion and Flow. The next-generation experience was a preview. Autodesk says rollout timing, subscription terms and regions will be announced in 2027, along with a standalone version. Support for third-party agents from its marketplace is planned without a date.
How to plan for it
If you work in Autodesk tools, the most useful thing to do now is get your data in order. Agents that trace a change across schedule and cost only work if the model, schedule and cost data are connected and current.
- Keep models, drawings and schedules in one place.
- Use consistent naming across projects.
- Try the current Assistant on real questions and note where it falls short.
